There’s no resting on your laurels for Public Television phenomenon Celtic Thunder! The multi-platinum Irish group disembarked from its third Celtic Thunder Cruise in November and completed a US Symphony Tour in December, all the while making preparations for the all new CELTIC THUNDER X Deluxe Double CD, Deluxe Double DVD packages, to be released on March 2, 2018. The releases celebrate the group’s 10th Anniversary, and the Celtic Thunder X tour of 75 cities across the US and Canada will begin in the fall of 2018.
The brand new music and footage from CELTIC THUNDER X is also a highly anticipated television special, which will begin airing nationally on March 1, 2018. The special was filmed in Dublin on October 30, 2017 at the Helix Theatre. Celtic Thunder has become one of public television’s largest draws. Their shows have aired over 22,500 times across 50 states on PBS. The group is among the top five audience-generating acts on the network. Celtic Thunder, the singing group from Ireland, who perform both solo and ensemble numbers. They debuted in August 2007 at The Helix in Dublin. Accompanied by the Celtic Concert Orchestra under the direction of David Munro, the musical director of the group, Celtic Thunder have become a household name all around the world, with recent ventures into Australia & South Africa.
With airing of their first Public Television special in 2008, Celtic Thunder consistently remains one of the most popular musical shows for stations throughout the US. Hailed as Billboard’s Top World Music Artist, Album & Imprint of 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, & now 2018 with their new show. The phenomenon that is Celtic Thunder has achieved sales of over Two Million copies and 800,000 Ticket Sales to date. Celtic Thunder live shows are known for dramatic effects via lighting and choreography as well as realistic Irish stage sets with authentic Irish instruments. Celtic Thunder has performed on the CBS Saturday Show’s Second Cup Café, the Today Show as well as the White House for President and Mrs Obama at their St. Patrick’s Day celebration as well as a Regular Guest on QVC.
Celtic Thunder has played such illustrious venues as the Nokie-LA Live in Los Angeles, Radio City Music Hall and the Beacon Theatre in NY, the Agganis Arena and Wang Center in Boston and has performed at the White House for President Obama, as well as functions for Irish Premier Brian Cowen, NYC Mayor Michale Bloomberg, UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, the US troops of the 69th Regiment, and at the opening of a Boston Celtics in TD North Bank Garden game by singing the American national anthem!
