The Book of Kells contains lavishly decorated interpretations of the four gospels. It is estimated that the Book of Kells was produced back in the 9th Century on the island of Iona, off the cost of Scotland. It is said that the book was moved to Kells, in Co. Meath, Ireland for safe keeping during the times of Viking raids.
The Book was moved to its current home, in Dublin’s own Trinity College in 1653. It remains there, on display for visitors to see and admire the rich history.
The Renaissance was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. Generally described as taking place from the 14th century to the 17th century, the Renaissance promoted the rediscovery of classical philosophy, literature and art
