Paul Byrom is often hailed as Ireland’s premier young tenor and with good reason. The Dublin-born tenor began voice study and training when he was just seven years old and later went on to study under the legendary Dr. Veronica Dunne, Ireland’s leading lady of opera and a renowned vocal teacher. He was a professional singer by his early teens and Paul recorded his first album as a boy soprano at 14. His second release, entitled VELVET, was in 2005 and it reached #2 in the Irish music charts. Paul went on to release his Christmas album entitled “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” in 2008, which charted in the Classical Billboard Charts. Paul has also appeared in a “Fair City”, an Irish soap opera and as a finalist on “Celebrity Jigs and Reels” (Ireland’s answer to Dancing with the Stars).

His talent as a tenor has taken him far and wide, and some of the many highlights of his career to date include performing for dignitaries such as Irish President Mary McAleese, Emperor Akihito of Japan and Former Irish President and UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson. On Saint Patrick’s Day 2009, Paul had the honor of performing (along with the other soloists of Celtic Thunder) at the White House for President and Mrs. Obama and their guests.

Paul is an avid sports fan and he has also performed at many large-scale and high profile sporting events such as an All-Ireland Final in Croke Park, Dublin, a Six Nations rugby game in Landsdowne Road, Dublin, the world renowned football team, Barcelona and at a Pittsburgh Steelers American Football game at Heinz Field in the US. He is very proud now to be a regular at the TD Garden, for the Boston Celtics basketball team and most recently performed at the Barclays Centre, NY for the Brooklyn Nets.

In 2007 Paul was invited to audition for Celtic Thunder and was promptly selected as one of the five soloists. Fans quickly nicknamed Byrom “The Swanky Tenor” for his suave and romantic style, which is stamped on such numbers in Celtic Thunder as “Remember Me Recuerde Me”, “You Raise Me Up” “Sway” and “She”. Coming into Celtic Thunder from a classical background was a new departure for Paul who not used to his new hordes of screaming fans.

Paul left Celtic Thunder at the end of 2011 to pursue a solo career and his album “THIS IS THE MOMENT” debuted at No.1 on the World Billboard Charts. This was followed by his first solo tour of North America. In 2012 Paul won “Tenor of the Year” award from the Irish Music Association. In March 2013 he filmed his first solo TV special “This is the Moment Live” for Public Television, which he later released on DVD and in February 2014 Paul released his latest CD entitled “Thinking of Home” – a classic tenor’s interpretation of some of the greatest and best loved Irish songs of all time including Danny Boy, The Town I Loved So Well and Dear Old Dublin.

Last year Paul’s latest album THINKING OF HOME reached the top of the iTunes, Amazon and World Billboard Charts and he has just been named for the second time in three years, The Irish Tenor Of The Year by the Irish Music Association.

While Paul continues to tour his solo show in the US and Ireland, he was delighted to rejoin his Celtic Thunder cast mates as a guest artist in their shows in Minot, ND and Thackerville, OK in October 2015. He also returned to the US in December 2015 with his solo tour entitled “Paul Byrom sings the Great Irish Songbook”. Paul will be attending the Celtic Thunder 10th Anniversary Cruise as a Guest Artist this November 2017.
